About Us
What began as a student initiative is now a beacon of mentorship, equity, and possibility.

Black Physicians of Tomorrow (BPT) began in 2015 when Black undergraduate students at Ontario Tech University set out to create a space where Black youth could see themselves in medicine and health.
What started as a small campus club in collaboration with the Community of Support Program quickly grew into a movement — connecting students through mentorship, community events, and innovative programs that made the health sciences more accessible and inspiring.
From those early beginnings, BPT launched STEAMWorks, a program offering free tutoring, hands-on workshops, and mentorship from professionals who reflect the identities of our youth. These experiences not only strengthen academic skills but also open doors to careers in medicine, health, and STEM that once felt out of reach.
Today, we continue to build on that vision — breaking down systemic barriers and empowering Black youth to reach their highest potential. Our story is still unfolding, and we invite you to journey with us as we shape the next generation of physicians, innovators, and leaders.
What Drives Us

As an organization, we are committed to cultivating a culture of excellence, confidence, and positive self-identity within the African, Caribbean, and Black (ACB) community. Our vision is to inspire the next generation of leaders in medicine and the health sciences by equipping them with the guidance, resources, and opportunities needed to thrive.
We believe every young person deserves the chance to see themselves reflected in the future of healthcare. Through mentorship, education, and community, we empower students to imagine new possibilities, embrace their full potential, and take bold steps toward becoming the health professionals of tomorrow.
Why We Do What We Do
At Black Physicians of Tomorrow, Black youth are at the heart of everything we do. We understand — and can relate to — the barriers that too often stand in the way of pursuing careers in medicine, health, and STEM. Too many families face financial, academic, and systemic challenges that limit access to tutoring, mentorship, and opportunities that should be within every student’s reach.
Our commitment is simple: no Black youth should be left behind because of circumstances beyond their control. By offering free tutoring, culturally relevant learning spaces, and mentorship from professionals who reflect their identities, we ensure our youth not only catch up but excel.
Representation matters. When students connect with Black professionals who have excelled in their fields, they gain both inspiration and a roadmap for what’s possible. Through workshops, mentorship, and hands-on experiences, we are reshaping how Black youth see themselves — as future innovators, physicians, scientists, and leaders.
